This is an easy reader version adapted by Walter Farley and illustrated in colour by Sandy Rabinowitz. The Black Stallion - A Cat In The Hat Beginner Book Later editions had cassette tapes with the simple text story and music. Some copies of these two booklets include 45 RPM phonograph records. Since the film THE BLACK STALLION was almost completely re- edited before it was released, there were lots of scenes that actually ended up on the cutting room floor, and some of the photos are from those portions. These are both 24 page paper wrap booklets of the photo stories produced by United Artists in 19 respectively.

"Story, music and photos from the Original Motion Picture". The Black Stallion and The Black Stallion Returns I don't believe it's in print any more but you see quite a few copies on eBay so it's not very hard to find. The illustrations are very nice and it is a good children’s book, with oversized illustrated boards. Henry Dailey and racing are not included. The story only covers the action up to Alex bringing The Black home to New York. This is one of the better spin- off books, written apparently by Walter Farley and adapted from the original for, I'm guessing, about Third Grade readers.
